BC Provincial Nominee Program – Business Immigration – Strategic Projects Category – How To Apply

Please note that if you are using a paid representative to help prepare your application, this person must meet the requirements for Authorized Representatives, and you must submit an Authorized Representative Form (PDF - 226KB)with your application.

Exploratory Visit to British Columbia
We strongly encourage nominee applicants to make an exploratory visit to British Columbia at this stage.

Application
The application you submit to the BC PNP must include the following:
- the appropriate provincial and federal forms;
- supporting documentation on the company's history of operations and financial position;
- a business plan; and
- the $3,000 CAD BC PNP processing fee, plus a $1,000.00 CAD application fee for each key staff member applying for nomination.

Initial Review
The BC PNP will conduct an initial review of your completed application and determine whether the application qualifies to proceed to the interview stage.
If your application to the BC PNP Strategic Projects category is refused at this stage, the BC PNP will send a letter advising you of the reasons for this refusal and will refund BC PNP fees paid, less CAD $1,000 to cover costs associated with the initial review. The BC PNP will not refund any processing fees on applications that proceed past the initial review stage.

Personal Interview
The key staff seeking nomination will be required to attend a personal interview with the business advisor assigned to the sponsoring company’s application. The BC PNP reserves the right to contact the owner or a designated officer of the sponsoring company directly to discuss the application.

Letter of Support
Nominee Candidates in the Strategic Projects category will be offered initial entry on a two-year federal work permit, leading to nomination when the sponsoring company has met the terms of conditions of its Performance Agreement.
The BC PNP will issue Nominee Candidates a letter of support for a two-year federal work permit. This work permit will allow them to work legally in Canada to implement the company’s business proposal. Candidates must submit their work permit application within 60 days of the date on the BC PNP’s support letter to the appropriate CIC visa office.

Nomination Options
When the foreign company has signed the Performance Agreement, it will be accepted as a nominee candidate. At this point the company may pursue nomination through:
à The regular option allows for nomination when the company has met the terms and conditions of the performance agreement.
The fast track option is NOT available to foreign, key staff included in the application for the Strategic Projects category.
The information and supporting documentation submitted in your application must be verifiable to the BC PNP’s satisfaction.
If the application is approved, the sponsoring company will be required to sign a Performance Agreement with the Province of British Columbia.
The Performance Agreement sets out terms and conditions for nomination that relate to implementing the sponsoring company’s business plan. The agreement identifies key steps and milestones in establishing the proposed business, such as incorporating a company, leasing a building, buying and installing equipment, obtaining permits and hiring employees.
When the sponsoring company has signed a Performance Agreement, the staff identified in the application will be accepted as Nominee Candidates.
