Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Project
Long Haul Trucking
Eligible Occupation
Truck driver applications under the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Category will be considered only for long-haul truck drivers as defined in the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Check the NOC website for a detailed description of main duties and employment requirements for this occupation.
- NOC 7411.1 Long-Haul Truck Drivers
Definition: Operate articulated or multi-articulated heavy commercial vehicles (over 4,600 kg gross vehicle weight) on routes more than 160 km from home base.
BC Work Experience Required
Nominee applicants must have worked for their employer in BC full-time in an eligible occupation for a period of at least nine consecutive months immediately prior to the date their BC PNP application was submitted. Nominee applicants must also maintain continuous full-time employment with the BC employer throughout the application process. Work experience that forms an integral part of a program of study (co-op) or is obtained using an Off-Campus Work Permit does not qualify toward this nine month work experience requirement.
Additionally, nominee applicants must:
- have at least two years employment experience as a long-haul truck driver in the three years prior to their application to the B.C. PNP; and
- hold a valid B.C. Class 1 driver’s license and, if required, air brake endorsement and other certification (e.g., for transporting dangerous goods).
