Newcomers’ Guide
Moving to a new country can be challenging. You probably have a number of questions that need to be answered right away. We have some information and resources that could help you find the answers you need as soon as you arrive in British Columbia.
The B.C. Newcomers’ Guide can give you the information you and your family need to settle in B.C. quickly and easily. For example, you can learn how to:
- apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN). You will need a SIN card in order to work in B.C,
- register for the Medical Services Plan (MSP) so you can see a doctor or access other health care services,
- open a bank account and learn about Canadian money, or
- apply for a B.C. driver’s licence.
