You’ve been nominated! What’s next?

Workers and students

If your application is approved, we will send you and your authorized representative (if you have one):
  • a confirmation of nomination
  • a nomination package with instructions how to submit your application for permanent residence to IRCC
After receiving your BC PNP confirmation of nomination, please submit a complete application for permanent residence to the designated IRCC visa office. You must submit your application before the expiry date listed on your confirmation of nomination.

Working while waiting for permanent residence

A nomination by the BC PNP does not authorize you to work while IRCC is processing your application. If you want to work in B.C. during this period, you must have authorization to work while in Canada.

If you do not have a work permit, or your work permit has expired (or is about to expire), you must apply to IRCC for a work permit. The BC PNP cannot apply for a work permit on your behalf. However, we may issue a work permit support letter to support  your work permit application.

Work permit support letters and other post-nomination requests

You must notify the BC PNP if there are any changes to your job, immigration status or family.

If you change your job, please access post-nomination support via My Dashboard on BCPNP Online.

We accept requests for work permit support letters through BCPNP Online if ALL of the following are met:
  • you have been nominated by the BC PNP
  • you submitted your application to IRCC before your nomination certificate expired
  • you continue to meet the conditions of nomination
If you are no longer working, or if there is a change in your immigration status and/or family makeup, you will need to email PNPPostNom@gov.bc.ca.

For time-sensitive requests, we strongly encourage you to submit your requests early to allow us enough time to process.

For more information on how to obtain a work permit, please review the Post-Nomination Guide.

Entrepreneurs

Once your signed Conditions of Nomination declaration has been received by the BC PNP, you will be issued a confirmation of nomination as a provincial nominee. You may then submit your application for permanent residence to IRCC under the Provincial Nominee Class.

For more information about nominations, please refer to the Entrepreneur Immigration Post-Arrival Guide.

Property Transfer Tax

In some circumstances, you may be exempt from the additional property transfer tax if you are a provincial nominee.
